Anna Rawson

Anna Rawson is a professional model and golfer who hails from Australia. She has competed in both the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA Tour, however, she has been inactive in the world of golf since 2010 after dropping out of the top 100 rankings in the sport.

Rawson was born in the Australian city of Adelaide, where she was raised up until the age of 16 when her modelling career began to take off. She got her first big break in the industry after she achieved finalist status in the Australian “Dolly” Magazine cover contest, which brought her to the attention of people inside the industry.

She was able to parlay this achievement into opportunities on the catwalk, in addition to modelling for both print and television advertisements. Despite beginning to attain a reputation within the modelling world, Rawson also maintained a passion golf and began playing as an amateur in 1999.

As a junior she won both the South Australian and Victoria Junior Championships, in addition to also winning the Jack Newton International Junior Classic. This demonstrated the potential that she had in the sport.

Following these early achievements, Rawson then became the leading qualifier for the Australian Amateur Championship in both 1999 and 2000, which led to her becoming a member of the Australian National Squad in 1999.

She took her passion for golf with her to the United States, where she played on the collegiate level for the University of Southern California during her studies. She attained an All-Pac-10 honourable mention in 2001, 2002 and 2004, which earmarked her as a potential professional in the years to come.

After completing her studies, Rawson turned professional in 2004 but she found that success was much harder to come by on the professional circuit than it had been in her amateur career. Despite playing a full season on the Future Tour during that year, she unfortunately failed to make the cut at the 2004 LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, which meant that she had to sit out some of the largest competitions of the year.

However, she continued to dedicate herself to the sport and managed to finish third at the Ladies European Tour in 2005, becoming a season rookie on the same tour in 2006.

These achievements led to opportunities on the LPGA tour, for which she was invited to play in late 2007. She qualified for a full-time tour card for the 2009 tour thanks to her successes in 2008.

2009 was the peak of her golfing career, as she managed to make 8 cuts on the tour and also achieved her highest levels of earnings in the game to date. However, by the time 2010 rolled around it appeared as though Rawson was focusing on commitments elsewhere, leading to her only making two cuts from a total of 15 tournaments played.

2010 marked her last year on the LPGA circuit and she has not played golf since, though many fans are hoping that she will make a return to the sport.
